Choosing a Wedding Videographer

This is an article we put together when we first started our wedding videography business. It is a good starting point for tips and to learn more about wedding videography.

Recap Frame

I uploaded this clip today for approval and thought I would add it here for viewing. This is how we usually end the wedding DVD, with a section called the “Recap” using video stills and edited to the first dance song.

Wedding Tip for Couples: Font selections for invite and program

August 7th, 2006

There are plenty of classy and elegent fonts to choose from when selecting a typeface for your invitation and/or program. Some of the standards and favorites are Bickham Script, Edwardian Script, Flemish Script, Helinda Rook Monotype, Monotype Corsiva, Mrs Eaves, Nuptial Script, and Park Avenue.

My all-time favorite, however, is to use a combination of Shelley and Engravers Gothic BT. It looks great in print and video.

Wedding Tip for Couples: Introduce your videographer

July 20th, 2006

If your videographer attends your rehearsal, try and take a moment to introduce him or her (or them) to the wedding party and relatives. I know that rehearsals can be hectic, but if you take the time to do this, it usually makes everyone a bit more comfortable with the person who is going to be videotaping them for much of the wedding day.

Wedding Tip for Couples: Plan your exit

July 20th, 2006

I know there are so many details (some very small) to keep up with when planning a wedding. Here’s another (sorry!). One thing we see at receptions, especially if a coordinator is not being utilized, is an unorganized exit at the end of the night. Be sure you know where the exit is to take place. Inform the DJ or band to make an announcement telling the guest exactly where to go. And if you’re not using a limo, be sure to have someone bring the car to the location of the exit. A nice organized exit makes for a great ending to the reception section of a wedding video.

Macworld: News: Sony unveils its first after-market Blu-ray Disc burner

To truly deliver high definition video (including wedding videos) to the consumer, Blu-ray and HD-DVD burners are going to figure in the mix. Unfortunately, as indicated by the two names, there are two competing formats. And right now it’s expensive for the average consumer!

There were several announcements about HD-DVD last month. I’ll try and catch up on those soon.
